The Victoria Summit 2021, led by the Victorian Chamber, will focus on exploring three fundamental questions to define a new path for Victoria’s economic recovery and long-term prosperity:
- What is the vision for Victoria in 10, 20, and 30 years, richly described, and aspirational but achievable?
- What are the pathways to securing this vision?
- What actions are needed to ensure Victoria is on the path to developing and realising the vision?
Vision, pathways and actions will be developed within specific thematic groups: Business and Economy, Future of Work, and Community, Health and Wellbeing.
The Victoria Summit will operate from March 2021 to February 2022 highlighted by two thought-provoking Victoria Summit Days – a Vision Day, followed by a Pathways Day.

Later in the Summit, we will turn our attention towards the actions required to achieve our visions and pathways to complete our final playbook. Victorian Chamber Chief Executive Paul Guerra discusses how the Victoria Summit 2021 will shape Victoria's future.
The Victoria Summit 2021 will be a unique opportunity for thought leaders from industry, unions, governments, the community and educational institutions to work together to create a bold vision for Victoria and a path for our state’s economic recovery, liveability and long-term prosperity.
COVID-19 presents an opportunity for Victoria to reset and strategically define what our state should look like in 2050. There is a significant amount of government funding being directed towards Victoria’s economic and social recovery. In addition, as Australia emerges from the pandemic as one of the strongest economies in the world, there is significant private sector investment and talent looking to invest. It is up to us as a state to work out how best to leverage these opportunities.
By December 2021, the Victoria Summit will have a bold, compelling, realistic and shared plan for Victoria in 2050 to be the best place to live, work and do business. The plan will outline the vision for our state and the pathways and actions required to achieve this. It will be used by governments and the private sector to drive investment and focus over the next 10, 20 and 30 years.
The first Reference Group meeting will be held on 17 March and there will be several meetings up until the last on 10 November. The Victoria Summit gala event, to celebrate launching the final Victoria Summit report, will be held on 2 December 2021. Two Victoria Summit Days will be held in May and August to gather data and insights. In between, the Reference Group and Working Groups will meet regularly to define and refine the vison, pathways and actions.
The Reference Group sets the framework and scope for all Summit activities and endorses the vision, pathways and actions, the working groups refine the vision, pathways and actions under specific thematic areas and the Victoria Summit Days collect data and insights.
Victoria Summit Days, which will be ticketed, will be open for the public. The public can also participate through ongoing online engagement including website discussion boards, surveys and email forms to help shape the vision, pathways and actions in line with their values.
