Victoria Summit 2021 Vision Day: we are all on the same page, we just need to write the book
MEDIA RELEASE
1 July 2021
The Victoria Summit 2021’s first public forum will be held on Friday, 6 August 2021 featuring keynote addresses from Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg MP, State Treasurer Tim Pallas MP and global futurist Anders Sörman-Nilsson.
The Victoria Summit 2021 is the leading opportunity for Victorians to help shape a vision for our state and a path for our economic recovery and long-term prosperity. The Vision Day is the first of two Victoria Summit 2021 public forums and follows meetings of the Reference Group of industry leaders and working groups.
The Reference Group has determined the three themes of the Summit: Business and Economy, Future of Work and Community, Health and Wellbeing. The working group co-chairs are:
- Business and Economy: Aurecon Chief Executive Louise Adams and Australian Industry Group Victorian Head Tim Piper
- Community, Health and Wellbeing: Victorian Council of Social Services CEO Emma King and Aware Super Chief of Staff Debra Mika
- Future of Work: Swinburne University of Technology Vice Chancellor and President Professor Pascale Quester and Victorian Trades Hall Council Secretary Luke Hilakari.
The Vision Day was postponed from 28 May 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions and will be run as a blended in-person and hybrid event at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre. The second public forum, the Pathways Day is scheduled for 1 October 2021, with reference group and working group meetings continuing throughout the year.
The Vision and Pathways Days are open to the public, offering both in-person and virtual engagement options. Places will be limited due to capacity constraints. Tickets can be purchased at victoriasummit.com.au. Victorians can also have their say on the virtual discussion boards.
The Victoria Summit 2021 will culminate in a final playbook to be launched in February 2022.
To be attributed to Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive Paul Guerra:
“The goal of the Victoria Summit 2021, to help shape a vision for our state’s future and a path for our economic recovery and long-term prosperity, which is now as important as ever.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have our national and state Treasurers to deliver the keynote addresses at the Vision Day. Their involvement shows the gravity and importance of this task as well as our governments’ commitment to work with business, unions, educational institutions and community representatives to achieve it. We are all on the same page, now we just need to write the book and we need your help to do it.
“We want Victoria to be the best place to live, work, learn and operate a business, and with ambition and planning we can achieve this. We want this to define our response to COVID-19 and set up Victoria for the future.”
